From Madurai's Living Temple City to the Meeting Point of Three Seas
A 6-day pilgrimage tracing Tamil Nadu's deep south — from Madurai's magnificent Meenakshi Amman Temple, through Rameshwaram's sacred Ramanathaswamy Jyotirlinga, to Kanyakumari, at the very southern tip of mainland India, where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean are said to meet.
The journey opens with two nights in Madurai, exploring the Meenakshi Amman Temple's towering gopurams, Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal, and Koodal Azhagar Temple, before continuing to Rameshwaram for two more nights at the eighth Jyotirlinga, with its extraordinary pillared corridors and the dramatic ghost town of Dhanushkodi nearby.
From Rameshwaram, the route turns south to Kanyakumari — visiting the Kanyakumari Amman Temple, dedicated to the virgin goddess Devi Kanya, and (time permitting) a ferry to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar Statue just offshore — before a sunset over the meeting point of three seas, one of the most photographed views in South India.

Namaste! Welcome to Madurai, the oldest city and cultural capital of Tamil Nadu. On arrival, transfer to your hotel, with the rest of the day free for independent activities.
After breakfast, a full day exploring Madurai. The Meenakshi Amman Temple, dedicated to Goddess Parvati (Meenakshi) and Lord Shiva, with its towering, intricately sculpted gopurams. Alagar Koil Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal, a 17th-century palace. Koodal Azhagar Temple, the Gandhi Museum, and St Mary's Cathedral.
After breakfast, check out and drive to Rameshwaram (172 km, ~3 hours). On arrival, check in to your hotel. Visit the Ramanathaswamy Temple — the eighth Jyotirlinga, renowned for its extraordinarily long pillared corridors — and, according to the Ramayana, the site from which Lord Rama built a bridge to Lanka to rescue Sita.
After breakfast, continue exploring Rameshwaram. Gandhamadhana Parvatham, the highest point in the town. Dhanushkodi, the dramatically wind-swept former town at the very tip of the coast, abandoned after a 1964 cyclone and now a hauntingly atmospheric stretch of sand between two seas.
After breakfast, check out and drive to Kanyakumari, at the very southern tip of mainland India, where the Arabian Sea, the Bay of Bengal, and the Indian Ocean are all said to meet. On arrival, check in to your hotel. Visit the Kanyakumari Amman Temple, dedicated to the virgin goddess Devi Kanya, and, time permitting, take a ferry to the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the Thiruvalluvar Statue just offshore. Enjoy the sunset over the meeting point of the three seas.
For early risers, an optional visit to the seafront to witness Kanyakumari's famous sunrise over the three seas. After breakfast, check out and drive to Trivandrum Airport (approximately 85 km, ~2 hours) for your departure flight. Tour concludes.

October to March offers the most comfortable temperatures (15–28°C) for the ghats, boat rides, and temple queues. April–June is hot on the Gangetic plain (up to 42°C); the monsoon (July–September) raises the Ganges considerably, which can affect ghat access in both cities.
