A 6-day journey deep into Tamil Nadu's temple heartland — Chennai's blend of temples and colonial landmarks, Madurai, the 'oldest city and cultural capital of Tamil Nadu', and Rameshwaram, home to the Ramanathaswamy Temple, the eighth Jyotirlinga and a key site in the Ramayana.
The tour opens with a day in Chennai, before continuing south to Madurai for two nights — the magnificent Meenakshi Amman Temple, with its towering, intricately sculpted gopurams, alongside Alagar Koil, Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal, and Koodal Azhagar Temple.
From Madurai, the route continues to Rameshwaram, where the Ramanathaswamy Temple's extraordinarily long pillared corridors — among the longest of any temple in India — anchor two full days of pilgrimage, alongside Gandhamadhana Parvatham and the dramatically wind-swept ghost town of Dhanushkodi at the very tip of the Tamil Nadu coast.

Namaste! Welcome to Chennai. On arrival, transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy a city tour — Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Fort St. George, the National Art Gallery and Museum, Vivekananda House, and Marina Beach.
After breakfast, check out and travel to Madurai — by road (approximately 460 km, ~8-9 hours) or a short domestic flight, depending on your preference. On arrival, check in to your hotel, with the evening free for independent activities after the journey.
After breakfast, a full day exploring Madurai — the oldest city and cultural capital of Tamil Nadu. The Meenakshi Amman Temple, dedicated to Goddess Parvati (Meenakshi) and Lord Shiva, with its towering, intricately sculpted gopurams. Alagar Koil Temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal, a 17th-century palace showcasing Indo-Saracenic architecture. Koodal Azhagar Temple, the Gandhi Museum, and St Mary's Cathedral.
After breakfast, check out and drive to Rameshwaram (172 km, ~3 hours) — a city of sweeping sand dunes and deep religious significance. On arrival, check in to your hotel. Visit the Ramanathaswamy Temple — the eighth Jyotirlinga, renowned for its extraordinarily long pillared corridors, among the longest of any temple in India — and, according to the Ramayana, the site from which Lord Rama built a bridge to Lanka to rescue Sita.
After breakfast, continue exploring Rameshwaram. Gandhamadhana Parvatham, the highest point in Rameshwaram, offering panoramic views of the town and coastline. Dhanushkodi, a dramatically wind-swept former town at the very tip of the Tamil Nadu coast, abandoned after a devastating 1964 cyclone and now a hauntingly atmospheric stretch of sand between two seas.
A final morning darshan at the Ramanathaswamy Temple. After breakfast, check out and drive to Madurai Airport (approximately 172 km, ~3 hours) for your departure flight. Tour concludes.
