Temples, UNESCO Rock-Cut Monuments & a French Colonial Quarter by the Sea

A 5-day coastal circuit along Tamil Nadu's northern shore — Chennai's blend of temples and colonial-era landmarks, the UNESCO World Heritage rock-cut monuments at Mahabalipuram, and Pondicherry, the former French colonial enclave often called the 'French Riviera of the East'.

The tour opens with a day in Chennai covering Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Fort St. George, Marina Beach, and the city's principal museums, before continuing down the coast to Mahabalipuram for the Pallava-era Shore Temple, the Pancha Rathas, and Arjuna's Penance.

From Mahabalipuram, the route continues to Pondicherry for two nights — Auroville's community-living ashram, the golden sands of Paradise Beach, the seaside promenade, and an evening rickshaw ride through the French Quarter's distinctive colonial streets.

Five well-paced days that combine living Hindu temple tradition, UNESCO-listed ancient sculpture, and a genuinely different colonial atmosphere — three very different chapters of Tamil Nadu's coastal story in a single short trip.
