Hills, the Golden Temple & the Sacred Trikuta Mountains — North India in Full
Ten days that combine everything extraordinary about North India into a single grand circuit — Himachal Pradesh's hill stations, Punjab's holiest Sikh shrine, and the sacred Vaishno Devi pilgrimage in the Trikuta Mountains of Jammu.
The tour follows the proven Himachal route: Chandigarh's modernist architecture, three nights in Manali for Hadimba Devi Temple, Rohtang Pass, and the Kullu Valley, then two nights in Dharamsala for the Dalai Lama's Tsuglagkhang Complex and the extraordinary Tibetan exile culture of McLeod Ganj.
From Dharamsala, the route turns toward Amritsar — an evening and morning at the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib), the holiest shrine in Sikhism, plus the theatrical Wagah Border ceremony. Then south to Katra, the base camp for the sacred Vaishno Devi pilgrimage — a 13 km trek through the Trikuta Mountains to one of the most visited religious shrines in the world, receiving over 8 million pilgrims annually.
This combination of Himalayan hill stations, Sikhism's most sacred site, and a profound Hindu pilgrimage in a single unhurried journey is genuinely unique — most operators offer these as entirely separate tours. We believe travellers with 10 days available deserve the chance to experience all three.
What makes this journey special
Your journey, unfolded
Depart Delhi for Chandigarh (250 km, ~5 hrs). Nek Chand's Rock Garden and the UNESCO Capitol Complex. Evening at Sukhna Lake.
Drive to Manali (310 km, ~8 hrs) through the apple-growing Kullu Valley along the Beas River. Arrive by evening.
Hadimba Devi Temple (1553 CE), Old Manali village, and Vashisht hot springs and temple.
Rohtang Pass (3,978m) for snowfields and Himalayan views. Solang Valley for adventure activities and Beas Kund glacier backdrop.
Drive to Dharamsala (235 km, ~7 hrs) through the Kangra Valley's tea gardens. Continue to McLeod Ganj for the evening.
The Tsuglagkhang Complex (Dalai Lama's residence and temple), the Tibet Museum, and Bhagsu Waterfall. Optional Triund Hill trek for panoramic Dhauladhar views.
Drive to Amritsar (200 km, ~5 hrs). Evening visit to the Golden Temple (Harmandir Sahib) — illuminated and reflected in the sacred pool at night. Visit the langar community kitchen, which feeds over 100,000 people daily, free, regardless of faith.
Morning return to the Golden Temple for the quieter dawn atmosphere and Jallianwala Bagh memorial. Afternoon: the Wagah Border ceremony (28 km) — the theatrical evening flag-lowering ritual at the India-Pakistan frontier. Evening drive to Katra (220 km, ~5 hrs) — the base camp for the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage. Register your RFID Yatra Pass on arrival (mandatory, free, arranged by us).
Early morning (2:00–4:00 AM): begin the 13 km trek to the Vaishno Devi Shrine through the Trikuta Mountains. Key stops: Banganga (3 km, sacred stream), Charan Paduka (4.5 km, the goddess's rock footprints), and Ardhkuwari Cave (7.5 km — the cave where the goddess is said to have meditated for 9 months; a half-kilometre crawl through the sacred passage is a profound experience). At the Bhawan (5,200 ft): darshan at the ancient cave shrine — three natural pindies (rock formations) representing Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, and Mahasaraswati. Descend via the Tarakot route (8 km). Return to Katra for rest. Transfer to Jammu for the night or onward journey.
After a well-deserved rest, transfer to Jammu Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey. The tour concludes at Jammu.

Your questions, answered
Yes — this itinerary is carefully paced to avoid the common mistake of cramming too much into too little time. Three nights in Manali and two in Dharamsala give genuine time to explore, not just pass through. The Amritsar and Vaishno Devi sections are naturally shorter (1 night each) because their highlights — the Golden Temple, Wagah ceremony, and the Vaishno Devi trek — are concentrated, intensive experiences rather than places requiring multiple days of broad exploration. If you would prefer more time in Himachal and less in the pilgrimage section, we can adjust — every tour is fully customisable.
The Vaishno Devi shrine can only be reached by the 13 km trek (on foot, pony, palki, or helicopter to a closer point) — there is no vehicle access to the Bhawan itself. If trekking is a concern, the helicopter service (Katra to Sanjhi Chhat, reducing the walk to about 2.5 km each way) is a good alternative, particularly for elderly travellers or those with mobility limitations. We can arrange helicopter booking in advance, subject to availability and weather.
March–June: apple blossom, spring flowers, comfortable temperatures. September–November: post-monsoon clarity, golden apple harvest, crisp air. December–February: heavy snow in Manali/Rohtang, perfect for winter sports. Avoid July–August (monsoon) for hill driving.
Absolutely — every tour is fully private. We can adjust duration, swap destinations, or add Spiti Valley, Kasol, or Kinnaur. Enquire at no obligation.
All our Himachal tours include private vehicle transfers throughout from Delhi (or your specified start point) and back. We can also combine train travel — the Kalka–Shimla Toy Train, or overnight trains from Delhi to Chandigarh/Pathankot/Amritsar — into the itinerary.
60+ days: full refund minus admin fee. 30–59 days: 75% refund. 15–29 days: 50%. Under 15 days: no refund. Travel insurance strongly recommended.
