Four Hill Stations, Nine Unhurried Days — The Definitive Himachal Pradesh Journey

This is the itinerary we recommend to anyone who wants to properly see Himachal Pradesh — nine days giving genuine, unhurried time in each of the state's four most rewarding destinations, rather than the rushed 5–6 day versions that leave you wishing you had one more day everywhere.

Chandigarh's modernist Capitol Complex opens the tour, followed by two full nights in Shimla — enough time for the Viceregal Lodge, Jakhu Temple, Kufri, and a more leisurely exploration of Naldehra's golf course and the Mall Road's heritage buildings, without the rush of a single overnight.

Manali receives three nights — the most of any destination — covering Hadimba Devi Temple, Old Manali, Rohtang Pass's snowfields, Solang Valley's adventure activities, and a full day in Naggar (the Roerich Art Gallery and 15th-century Naggar Castle) with an optional excursion into the Parvati Valley at Kasol and Manikaran's hot springs.

The tour concludes with two nights in Dharamsala — the Dalai Lama's Tsuglagkhang temple, the Tibet Museum, Bhagsu Waterfall, and (for those who want it) the Triund Hill trek through rhododendron forest. Nine days is genuinely enough time to feel like you have properly experienced Himachal Pradesh, not merely glimpsed it.

Your questions, answered

Most Himachal tours compress Shimla, Manali, and Dharamsala into 5–7 days, which means one rushed night in each place and very long consecutive driving days. This 9-day Grand Circuit gives 2–3 nights at each destination — enough time to actually settle in, explore properly, and have at least one unhurried day rather than checking in and out the next morning. If your schedule allows 9 days, we genuinely believe this is the better way to experience Himachal Pradesh.

Yes — this itinerary works very well as a base to extend either direction. Adding Amritsar (200 km from Dharamsala) adds 1–2 days and the Golden Temple plus Wagah Border ceremony. Extending toward Ladakh from Manali (via the Manali-Leh Highway) is also possible for travellers comfortable with high-altitude road travel — see our dedicated Himalayan Safari tour for that combination. Enquire for a customised extended itinerary.

March–June: apple blossom, spring flowers, comfortable temperatures. September–November: post-monsoon clarity, golden apple harvest, crisp air. December–February: heavy snow in Manali/Rohtang, perfect for winter sports. Avoid July–August (monsoon) for hill driving.

Absolutely — every tour is fully private. We can adjust duration, swap destinations, or add Spiti Valley, Kasol, or Kinnaur. Enquire at no obligation.

All our Himachal tours include private vehicle transfers throughout from Delhi (or your specified start point) and back. We can also combine train travel — the Kalka–Shimla Toy Train, or overnight trains from Delhi to Chandigarh/Pathankot/Amritsar — into the itinerary.

60+ days: full refund minus admin fee. 30–59 days: 75% refund. 15–29 days: 50%. Under 15 days: no refund. Travel insurance strongly recommended.
