Three Nights on the Lake, Two Days in the Valley

Six days designed for travellers who want to go deeper — more time on Dal Lake, more time in Pahalgam, and a leisurely Gulmarg day rather than an overnight. This is Kashmir without rushing.

Three nights in Srinagar gives you time to experience both the essential highlights and the less-visited sides of the city: the dawn floating market, all three Mughal Gardens, the old city's 600-year-old mosques and craft lanes, an evening at the Khanqah-i-Moula, and the extraordinary experience of sitting on your houseboat deck as the lake fills with evening Shikara men returning from work.

Two full days in Pahalgam — the Valley of Shepherds — allow you to explore at an unhurried pace: Betaab Valley and Aru Valley on Day 4, Baisaran and Chandanwari on Day 5, with evening walks along the Lidder River and dinners of Kashmiri trout and kahwa at your valley hotel. Gulmarg fills Day 3 — the Gondola to Kongdori, the meadow walk, and the golf course — as a day trip rather than overnight, keeping the tour's character pastoral and lake-focused.

What makes this journey special

1.Three nights on Dal Lake — floating market Shikara, Mughal Gardens, houseboat evenings, and old city.
2.Shalimar Bagh (1619 CE), Nishat Bagh (1633 CE), and Chashme Shahi — the three Mughal Gardens.
3.Khanqah-i-Moula (Shah Hamdan Mosque, 1395 CE) and Jama Masjid (1402 CE) in Old Srinagar.
4.Gulmarg Gondola to Kongdori (3,979m) — Nanga Parbat views — as a full day excursion.
5.Pahalgam — Betaab Valley, Aru Valley, Baisaran meadow, and the Lidder River at leisure.
6.Chandanwari (2,895m) — the Amarnath Yatra base and a glacial valley of great beauty.
7.Pony rides through Pahalgam's forests and traditional Gujjar shepherd encounters.
8.Kashmiri trout fishing on the Lidder River (optional, permit required).

Your questions, answered

The Kashmir Complete (also 6 days) includes an overnight in Gulmarg — staying in the meadow after the day-trippers leave — and adds a Sonmarg day excursion, while spending 2 nights in Pahalgam. This tour (Kashmir Valley in Full) spends 3 nights in Srinagar (giving more time on Dal Lake and in the old city), uses Gulmarg as a day trip, and goes equally deep into Pahalgam. Choose Kashmir Complete if you want the Gulmarg overnight and Sonmarg glacier experience. Choose Kashmir Valley in Full if you prefer more lake time in Srinagar and a deeper Pahalgam exploration.

Don't rush Pahalgam. The town itself is pleasant — a wooden market, the Lidder River, and the Mamleshwar Temple — but the valleys above are where the magic is. Betaab Valley for alpine meadows (easily by car). Aru Valley for a more remote, pastoral feel with Kolahoi Glacier views. Baisaran for the sweeping meadow above the town (pony ride, 30 min). Chandanwari for altitude and the full Amarnath Valley experience. Two nights allows you to see all four without rushing. For trekkers: the Kolahoi Glacier Trek (2 days from Aru) and the Tarsar-Marsar Lake Trek (4 days) are both accessible from Pahalgam.

Kashmir is among India's fastest-growing tourism destinations. The main tourist areas — Srinagar's Dal Lake, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonmarg — are safe and well-managed. Millions of Indian and international tourists visit every year without incident. We monitor conditions continuously and our flexible booking policy allows rescheduling if needed.

April–June: gardens in bloom, pleasant temperatures (15–25°C). July–September: lush green, some rain. October–November: autumn chinar colours, crisp air, excellent visibility. December–March: snow — Gulmarg becomes a ski resort. October and April are generally the finest months.

A traditional houseboat is one of the quintessential Kashmir experiences — walnut-wood interiors, a private sun deck, Shikara access, and the extraordinary experience of waking on the lake to mist and mountains. Houseboats range from budget to 5-star deluxe. We recommend at least one night for any Kashmir visitor.

No special permit is required for Indian or foreign nationals to visit the standard tourist areas (Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonmarg). Certain sensitive border zones require additional clearance — our team advises if your itinerary includes any such areas.

Absolutely — every tour is fully private. We can adjust duration, add Gurez Valley, Yusmarg, or Bangus Valley, or connect to Leh-Ladakh. Enquire at no obligation.

60+ days: full refund minus admin fee. 30–59 days: 75% refund. 15–29 days: 50%. Under 15 days: no refund. Travel insurance strongly recommended.
