Temples, Tibetan Heritage & A Flight Over the Solang Slopes
A 4-day Himachal escape combining Manali's gentle cultural sightseeing with one of North India's most accessible paragliding destinations — the open slopes of Solang Valley, just a short drive from town, and a day-long excursion to the snow-clad Rohtang Pass.
The tour opens with a half-day tour of Manali itself: the cedar-forest Hadimba Temple, the Vashisht hot springs, and a Tibetan monastery housing several images of the Buddha, before an evening free to stroll Manali's Mall Road.
The second day is built entirely around the trip's centrepiece — paragliding above Solang Valley, where the open slopes and reliable thermals have made this one of India's most popular tandem paragliding spots. Short, medium, and long-distance flights are all available, run by experienced certified pilots.
The final full day brings a long excursion to Rohtang Pass (3,978m), the high mountain gateway connecting Manali to the Lahaul and Spiti valleys, snow-covered for most of the year and one of the most popular picnic and photography stops in the region, before returning to Manali for your final night.
What makes this journey special
Your journey, unfolded
Arrive in Manali and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, proceed for a half-day tour of the town — the Hadimba Devi Temple, a striking cedar-wood pagoda set in a protected forest grove; the Vashisht hot springs, a natural sulphur spring sacred to both Hindus and Sikhs; and a Tibetan monastery housing several images of the Buddha. Enjoy the evening at leisure, or stroll and shop along Manali's Mall Road.
After breakfast, drive to Solang Valley — the beautiful open slopes here are famous across North India for paragliding, with reliable thermals and sweeping Himalayan views. Choose from short flying, medium flying, or long-distance flying, all conducted with certified tandem pilots and full safety equipment provided. In the afternoon, return to Manali, with the rest of the day free to relax and reflect on your flight.
After breakfast, set off on a day-long excursion to Rohtang Pass (3,978m) — the high mountain gateway connecting Manali to the Lahaul and Spiti valleys, covered with snow for most of the year and one of the most popular picnic spots among visitors to Himachal Pradesh. Enjoy the dramatic mountain scenery and, depending on season, the chance to play in the snow. Return to Manali in the late afternoon.
After breakfast, time free until your departure. Later, transfer to Manali Bus Stand, Kullu Airport, or Chandigarh Airport for your onward journey. Tour concludes.

Your questions, answered
Yes — Solang Valley is one of India's most established tandem paragliding sites, and all flights are conducted with a certified, experienced pilot controlling the glider; no prior experience is required from passengers. Short flights (around 10 minutes) suit nervous first-timers, while medium and long-distance flights (up to around an hour) appeal to those wanting a longer, more immersive experience over the valley.
March to June and September to November offer the most reliable paragliding conditions and clear mountain visibility. Rohtang Pass is typically open from May/June through October/November, depending on snowfall — it can close for extended periods in winter due to heavy snow, so we recommend checking current pass conditions if travelling outside the main season.
This Manali itinerary was originally bundled together with a separate Goa-based paragliding tour under a single combined listing. We've separated the two into standalone itineraries for clarity, since most travellers book one or the other rather than both. If you would like to combine a Manali paragliding trip with our Paragliding in Goa itinerary into a single longer journey, we can arrange this — please get in touch via the enquiry form.
October to March is ideal — comfortable temperatures (15–28°C), clear skies, and the best conditions for sightseeing, fort treks, and wildlife safaris. April–June brings intense heat (up to 45°C); July–September is monsoon, with some relief from the heat but reduced safari access in the tiger reserves.
