Krishna's Capital, the First Jyotirlinga & the Asiatic Lion — All in One Sweep

A genuinely comprehensive 6-day sweep across Gujarat's Saurashtra peninsula — opening in Ahmedabad, continuing through the Rajput palaces of Jamnagar, the sacred temples of Dwarka and Somnath, and concluding with a wildlife safari at Gir, before departure from Rajkot.

Jamnagar, the 'Jewel of Kathiawar', brings Lakhota Fort's island palace and the Bala Hanuman Temple's Guinness World Record continuous chant — a stop few Gujarat itineraries include, but one that rewards travellers with genuine Rajput-era character.

From Jamnagar, the route reaches Dwarka, the legendary capital of Lord Krishna and one of the four Char Dham, before continuing to Somnath, home to the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, its temple rebuilt many times through history.

The circuit's final chapter brings Gir National Park, the only place on earth where the Asiatic lion survives in the wild, before concluding at Rajkot — Saurashtra's largest city and the region's principal air gateway.

Your questions, answered

Jamnagar genuinely rewards the detour — Lakhota Fort's island palace and the Bala Hanuman Temple's round-the-clock chant (a Guinness World Record) offer a distinctly different, less-visited side of Saurashtra's Rajput heritage, and it sits naturally on the direct road route between Ahmedabad and Dwarka, adding minimal extra driving.
