This is the itinerary most travellers picture when they think of "a Goa holiday" — an even split between North Goa's lively beaches and South Goa's relaxed shores, with the cultural heart of Old Goa and a spice plantation excursion woven in between.
North Goa delivers everything the region is famous for: the beach energy of Calangute and Baga, the historic Fort Aguada, and the bohemian character of Anjuna with its hilltop sunset views and famous flea market. A half-day excursion to a working spice plantation introduces the cardamom, pepper, and cashew that have shaped Goan cuisine and trade for centuries, alongside a traditional Goan thali lunch.
South Goa brings the trip to a more relaxed close — Colva and neighbouring Benaulim's wide, quieter beaches offer the perfect last two days to simply unwind, with the option of a backwater dolphin-spotting boat trip for a different perspective on the Goan coast.

Welcome to Goa! Transfer to your North Goa hotel. Afternoon at leisure on Calangute Beach, then Baga Beach for sunset and the area's well-known beach clubs and restaurants.
Fort Aguada and its lighthouse for views over the Arabian Sea and Mandovi estuary. Old Goa's UNESCO World Heritage churches — the Basilica of Bom Jesus and Se Cathedral. Afternoon at Anjuna Beach, known for its dramatic cliffs, sunset views, and (on Wednesdays) its famous flea market.
Morning: visit a working spice plantation — walk through groves of cardamom, pepper, nutmeg, and cashew, learning about the spice trade that first drew Portuguese traders to this coast. Enjoy a traditional Goan thali lunch on-site. Afternoon: drive to South Goa (approximately 35-40 km) and check in to your hotel. Evening at leisure on Colva Beach.
A relaxed day at leisure on the wide, calm beaches of Colva and neighbouring Benaulim — considerably quieter than North Goa, with fewer crowds and a more laid-back atmosphere. Optional morning boat trip from the nearby jetty for dolphin-spotting along the coast. Afternoon free for swimming, sunbathing, or simply relaxing with a book.
A final relaxed morning on the beach. Check out and transfer to Goa Airport or the railway station for your onward departure. Tour concludes.

Goa's spice trade — particularly pepper, which the Portuguese sought above all else — shaped much of its early colonial history. A guided walk through a working plantation, seeing cardamom, nutmeg, pepper vines, and cashew trees up close, gives genuine context to Goan cuisine and history that a beach holiday alone wouldn't provide. It's also simply an enjoyable, easy half-day activity that breaks up the beach time nicely.
November to February is peak season — warm days, cool evenings, calm seas, and every beach shack and water sport operator open for business. March–May is hot but still good for swimming and has fewer crowds. June–September is monsoon — heavy rain, rough seas, and most beach shacks closed, though the Western Ghats and Dudhsagar Falls are at their most spectacular in this period.
North Goa (Calangute, Baga, Candolim, Anjuna, Vagator) is livelier — nightlife, water sports, flea markets, and a younger crowd. South Goa (Colva, Benaulim, Cavelossim, Palolem) is quieter, with wider, less crowded beaches and a more relaxed, upscale resort atmosphere. Many of our itineraries deliberately combine a few nights in each so you experience both sides of Goa rather than choosing just one.
