The journey opens with two days in Delhi, then follows the now-familiar desert spine — Mandawa, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, a night at the Sam Sand Dunes, and Jodhpur — before two unhurried days in Udaipur. From there, the tour takes a genuinely distinctive turn: a night in Deogarh, a small, little-visited heritage town built around a 17th-century fort-turned-hotel, known for its own school of miniature painting and a refreshingly uncrowded atmosphere.
The circuit then returns to Jaipur for two days of royal heritage, before a final leg to Agra — the Taj Mahal at sunrise providing one of the most memorable closing notes of any Rajasthan itinerary — and the drive back to Delhi for departure.

Drive to Mandawa (170 km, ~4 hrs). Afternoon walking tour of the Shekhawati region's most elaborately frescoed merchant havelis — Goenka Double Haveli and Murmuria Haveli among them.
Drive to Bikaner (190 km, ~4 hrs). Junagarh Fort, built on flat ground and never successfully captured. Optional excursion to Deshnoke for the Karni Mata 'Rat Temple', where thousands of black rats are revered as reincarnations of the goddess's devotees.
Drive to Jaisalmer (330 km, ~6 hrs). Evening: explore Jaisalmer Fort, one of the few 'living forts' in the world, where homes, shops, and temples still operate within its golden sandstone walls.
Morning: Patwon ki Haveli and Salim Singh ki Haveli. Afternoon: drive to the Sam Sand Dunes (42 km, ~1 hr) for a sunset camel trek, folk music, and dinner at a desert camp under an exceptionally starry sky.
A peaceful desert sunrise before checkout. Drive to Jodhpur (285 km, ~5.5 hrs). Afternoon: Mehrangarh Fort, widely regarded as India's most dramatic fort.
Drive south through the Aravalli hills to Udaipur (250 km, ~5 hrs), stopping at Ranakpur's extraordinary Jain temple, its interior supported by over 1,400 intricately carved marble pillars, no two alike.
A full day in the City of Lakes. The City Palace complex, a sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola past the floating Lake Palace, and the formal gardens of Saheliyon ki Bari.
Drive to Deogarh (95 km, ~2 hrs) — a small, little-visited town built around a 17th-century fort, now a heritage hotel, and known for the Deogarh school of miniature painting that flourished here under local patronage. Afternoon: explore the fort's painted chambers and the quiet, uncrowded old town, a genuine contrast to the busier stops earlier in the tour.
Drive to Jaipur (260 km, ~5 hrs). Check in. Afternoon: Amber Fort by jeep for the Sheesh Mahal and royal courtyard gardens.
A full day in the Pink City. The City Palace, still home to the Jaipur royal family. The iconic Hawa Mahal. Evening: folk dance, puppet shows, and a traditional Rajasthani dinner at Chokhi Dhani village.
A flexible day to explore Jaipur further at your own pace — the UNESCO-listed Jantar Mantar observatory, Nahargarh Fort for sunset views over the city, or simply time to shop for gemstones, block-printed textiles, and blue pottery in the old city's bazaars.
Drive to Agra (240 km, ~5 hrs). Check in. Evening: visit the Taj Mahal grounds for sunset views, or simply settle in ahead of tomorrow's sunrise visit.
Rise early for the Taj Mahal at dawn — soft light, fewer crowds, and the most celebrated view in India, a fitting finale to this comprehensive Rajasthan journey. Visit Agra Fort, the Mughal Empire's red sandstone stronghold. Drive to Delhi (200 km, ~3.5–4 hrs) and check in for your final night.
A relaxed final morning — perhaps last-minute shopping at one of Delhi's government emporiums for authentic, fixed-price crafts. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight. Tour concludes.

Deogarh is one of Rajasthan's genuine hidden gems — a small fort town that developed its own distinctive school of miniature painting in the 18th-19th centuries, quite different in style from the better-known Jaipur or Udaipur traditions. It sees a small fraction of the visitors that the major cities do, offering a peaceful, uncrowded contrast roughly two-thirds of the way through what is otherwise a fairly intensive touring schedule.
This is intentionally our most complete Rajasthan itinerary.
